Brief introduction of the speaker
Chen Xuewei Professor and doctoral supervisor of Sichuan Agricultural University, member of the Youth Committee of the Central Committee of the Democratic League of China, executive deputy director of the academic committee of the University, director of the State Key Laboratory for exploration and utilization of crop gene resources in Southwest China, winner of the first scientific exploration award in 2019 (the only winner in the field of plants and agriculture), distinguished professor of the Yangtze River scholars award program of the Ministry of education, and national outstanding youth He is the winner of the fund, the leader of science and technology innovation in the "ten thousand talents plan" of the national special support program for high level talents, the young and middle-aged leader of science and technology innovation in the "innovative talents promotion plan" of the Ministry of science and technology of the people's Republic of China, the "excellent talents in the new century" of the Ministry of education, the winner of the second outstanding talents award of Sichuan Province, the distinguished expert of the "thousand talents plan" introduced overseas by Sichuan Province, and the academic and technological belt of Sichuan Province Chief, enjoy the special allowance of the State Council. He graduated from Sichuan Agricultural University with a bachelor's degree in 1997, graduated from Sichuan Agricultural University with a master's degree in 2000, and graduated from Institute of genetics and developmental biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences with a doctor's degree in 2003. In 2004, he went to the international famous Laboratory of the University of California in the United States to study and apply the molecular mechanism of rice disease resistance for 7 years. In 2011, he returned to China and worked in the Rice Research Institute of Sichuan Agricultural University. He continued to engage in the theory and Application Research of major rice diseases and achieved a series of original research results, including cell, science, nature microbiology, PNAs, autophagy, molecular plant and PLoS 65 papers were published in mainstream journals such as genetics, some of which were awarded the "top ten progress of life sciences in China" in 2017, "major scientific progress of agriculture in China" in 2017 and "major scientific progress of agriculture in China" in 2018, and applied for a number of patents. In cooperation with breeding experts, 19 new hybrid rice varieties with disease resistance and 12 varieties approved by the state have been bred, and remarkable social and economic benefits have been achieved.
